Big Changes Coming

A new studio, saying goodbye to a studio mate, and a new collaboration

I’m moving!!!

Well, my current studio lease ends in July, and my dear friend and studio mate Susie Jarvis is retiring, so … this was the perfect time to make the jump to building my own backyard studio in Holladay, Utah! Yikes, what have I gotten myself into? Construction began in December:

Early chaos

By February the foundation and framing were complete:

Good bones! And more well-organized chaos.

Things are moving along nicely now:

Harley is looking forward to finally getting her home office.

The end of an era

I’ll have more details about my move in a couple months as construction progresses, but in the meantime I’m saying goodbye to my friend and studio roomie Susie Jarvis. Susie and I have been studio mates for over 10 years — it’s hard to imagine not sharing artists’ space with her! I’m going to miss her terribly, but look forward to following her future exploits as a musician. Susie’s having a retirement art sale in our studio at the end of April — she’ll have art supplies, prints, greeting cards, furniture, peg boards and miscellaneous still life objects for sale. Follow her on Instagram for more details.

If you’re in town, stop by and say hello to Susie! I’ll have a few odds and ends for sale as well, mostly print seconds — prints that didn’t quite make the cut but are still pretty fun! $5 apiece or 10 for $20!

Lots of people talk to animals... Not very many listen, though... That's the problem.

I’m getting brooched!

I have a new collaboration with Erstwilder, an Australian label that designs and produces limited-run, vintage-inspired layered resin brooches, earrings and necklaces along with other playful accessories and wearable art. The collection launches 12:30pm Australian Eastern Time, Tuesday, April 22 on earstwilder.com. Here’s a sneak peak:

Tuxedo Cat and his little friend are ready to brooch you.

I’ve seen all the pieces in my collection, including necklaces and earrings — they are adorable!
