A Fun Show, a New Project, and the Rise of Harley

Good Times in Palm Desert

I had a lovely visit to Palm Desert, California, in early December. What a great time to go to the Coachella Valley! Nice weather, great shopping, good food, and a delightful show at CODA Gallery:

Thank you Areli Beltran, Julie Makrianis, Daniel Ramirez and the rest of the CODA crew for a beautiful show!

One of the best things about shows is meeting fans and collectors, and visiting with old friends. If you’re wondering, that cool glass sculpture is by Jesse Kelly. I admire the optimism of glass sculptors — they must view the world as mostly full of people who don’t break things.

Lots of people talk to animals... Not very many listen, though... That's the problem.

My New Adventure

I’m working on a book illustration project to be published in the late spring. There’s not much I can tell you right now, except this is a bit outside my wheelhouse — which I love — and I’m very excited about it!

What is even going on here??? Stay tuned!

Bath Pals - 18”x18”

This is my muse Harley, who has been entered in America’s Favorite Pet (it’s a long story). The contest is a fundraiser for PAWS, a Washington 501(c)3 organization that rehabilitates orphaned and injured wildlife, shelters and adopts out homeless cats and dogs, and educates the community to inspire compassionate action for animals. You can vote for Harley here. She’s currently in first place in her group (yay!), but she still has multiple qualifying rounds, then quarterfinals, semis and finals to go until March. Single votes are free, or you can vote in multiples by donating. It’s a very good cause, and Harley gets $10,000 and a magazine cover if she wins. Finally, she could afford to go to college!

Votes please!
